Things to keep in mind before You Yoga:
- Try not to eat at least one hour before practice
- Wear loosely-fitted clothes for most ease of movement and comfort
- Try not to wear socks. It's okay during seated and reclining times, but when your feet are on the floor, you will get better traction on bare feet. For standing poses, it is vital, it is safer, and you will have a more tactile experience. Yoga literally means to connect, it’s awfully hard to connect with your body through socks. Nobody cares what your feet look like, and maybe this will make you take better care of your feet! Set those yoga toes free!
- If you don’t have a mat, a towel, rug, or carpet can work (all the more reason for those bare feet!)
- If you are serious about your yoga, you may want to consider purchasing a good quality yoga mat, 2 blocks of equal size, a strap, and have a blanket, bolster, and/or cushion on hand. To improvise these items, as times are tough, you can use individually-wrapped toilet paper rolls, loaf baking pans or books for blocks, a robe belt or a scarf for a strap, and you can use linens and pillows from your couch and bed. If you want to start purchasing these things and on a budget, start with blocks and build from there
- Try to set up your device so I can see your whole body; this is especially helpful if you want added value to your practice and receive alignment correcting cues specific to your pose. If it is your very first time, set up well in advance so you are ready to hit the mat come class time!
- Keep your space comfortable and clutter-free of non-yoga stuff and your mat positioned in a way so that you don’t run into things, you want to be able to move freely. Do the best you can with the space you have
- Once we start class, I will ask all participants to mute their microphone so that we are not distracted by off-camera noise
- You have the option of blocking your video for privacy purposes
- I will tape each class and send it to all participants after class so that you can revisit it for up to 10 days. If you pay for a class and something comes up and you miss it, you have the option of taking the class later on your own with the tape, or you can credit your purchase to your next live class, provided that you make up the class within 4 weeks. Please contact me at jennyoga101@gmail.com with details BEFORE OR JUST AFTER CLASS BEGINS as to how you would like to handle missed paid classes so I will know if I should send you the tape.
- We will set the class up in a way that only I will appear on the tapes, so please don’t worry about getting ready for your close up!
- Safety is your number one concern! If you don’t feel comfortable doing a pose, pick another or ask me to help you modify the pose or find an alternative
- If you pay for a class and then later don’t feel like coming, come anyway! (But not if you don’t feel safe) Those are the best days to do your yoga, when you don’t wanna! You can always tone down your practice to meet your needs. (Then you REALLY see just how yummy it is). If you don't come, you can use your credit for the next class you attend
- Once class ends, I will turn off the tape and give you an opportunity to ask questions and chat with others, though please feel free to leave when you need to leave!
- Be safe. Be happy. Be healthy. Be. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……….
